Dal Falco, Federica

Federica Dal Falco, Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), Architect, PhD in Architectural Technologies. Since 2005, she has been an associate professor of design in the PDTA Department of Sapienza University of Rome. Her main lines of research concern Design for Cultural Heritage with a focus on modern studies from design to architecture, museum communication, and design for public space. She was the President of the Design Didactic Area (2010/2014) and the Coordinator of CDLS (2004/2009). Since 2008, she has been the promoter, scientific responsible and RAM of Erasmus agreements for the Degree Course in Design and CDLM in DCVM and of scientific and cultural collaboration agreements with Museums in Rome and Cultural Institutes abroad. She is the Director of the Master in Exhibit Design and coordinator of the Internationalization Unit of the PDTA Department. Since 2009, Dal Falco has been a member of the External Review Team of Design (A3ES), a scientific researcher at FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) and a guest investigator in CIEBA. Since 2019, she has been the Academician of the National Academy of Design, Russian Federation. She is responsible for the Framework Agreements and Executive Protocols for Design (Sapienza / Moscow State Stroganov Academy; Sapienza / Tabriz Islamic Art University, Iran). The publications of Dal Falco are in class A journals, volume essays, monographs, and curatorship. She is the scientific director of documentaries dedicated to the history of architecture, events and personalities of the twentieth century. Two books written by her and the Documentary “100 years of the Sapienza School of Architecture. Testimonies and stories 1958–1980” were selected for the ADI Design index (2013, 2014, and 2022) receiving the Lazio Design Excellence Award. She is a member of scientific committees of international conferences and she has been on the editorial board of class A journals and scientific journals. In the field of design experimentation, she has pursued theoretical and applied research between arts and design with multimedia design products, digital artistic works, installations, participating since 2009 in international exhibitions, with catalogues, mentions and awards.

The book addresses the interdisciplinary and multiscale theme of the design of sustainable, inclusive and creative urban green spaces in relation to the socio-ecological transition and in line with the systemic vision promoted by the 2030 Agenda, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the principles outlined by the New European Bauhaus (European Commission, 2021).
