Lithuanian-American pedagogue Tonya Soloveitchik, née Levit, (1904–1967) is a time witness of the history of the Jewish Diaspora in Lithuania, Germany, and the USA. Raised in a religious family in the midst of Vilnius, the 'Jerusalem of the North,' Levit earned her PhD at the University of Jena and, alongside her husband, Rabbi Joseph Ber Soloveitchik (1903–1993), she became the co-founder of a Modern Orthodox school for girls and boys in Boston.
