While public prosecutor Francesco De Benedetti is going about his daily routine in tranquil Heidelberg, he receives a request for administrative assistance from Sicily. Mafia boss Vito Macaluso, who is in prison in Mannheim, has to be questioned about a murder case. The Sicilian investigators suspect that Macaluso could be an important witness.
