Dieses Buch enthält die deutsche Übersetzung einer in Persisch (Dari) verfassten und bislang unveröffentlichten Handschrift, die der Herausgeber und Übersetzer im Herbst 2002 bei einer Forschungsreise nach Afghanistan finden konnte. Die Handschrift beinhaltet persönliche Erinnerungen und Notizen des inzwischen verstorbenen afghanischen Intellektuellen Abdurrahman Pahwal an die Zeit der Taliban-Herrschaft.

Writing and Orthography in Non-Literary Texts from Roman Britain

The main aim of this book is an analysis of the orthographic variation observed in non-literary documents written on tablets in Roman Britain (i.e. Londinium-Bloomberg stylus tablets, the Carlisle and Vindolanda ink tablets, and curse tablets) taking into account any possible glimpse of language contact between the mother-tongue of the writers, conveniently hidden by the prestige of the Latin language and culture.

The study also publishes for the first time an important and previously unknown portrait of the emperor, currently in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

Denn die zweite Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts ist geradezu janusköpfig, sie erweist sich als ein großes Laboratorium der deutschen Literatur.
