B. Munwar Basha

Dr. B. Munwar Basha is currently a Professor in Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, India. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi from 2010 to 2013. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, in August 2009, following an M.Tech. from IIT Kanpur in 2004 and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur, AP, India, in June 2001. His primary research interests include risk and reliability in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, soil dynamics and earthquake-resistant design of earth structures. He was awarded the Prof. N. S. Govinda Rao Gold Medal for the Best Ph.D. Thesis in the Department of Civil Engineering at IISc Bangalore for 2008–2009.

Dr. Raghuveer Rao Pallepati is a Principal research scientist at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. He is involved in teaching, research and consultancy in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. He has been working with the department since 1989 and has been teaching courses related to subsurface exploration and soil testing, earth retaining structures, behavior and testing of unsaturated soils, and fundamental of soil behavior for Masters and Doctoral students. His research interests are geoenvironmental engineering, geotechnical instrumentation, slope stability analysis, numerical modeling, mechanics of unsaturated soils, contaminant transport through soil and reinforced earth structures. Dr. Pallepati has conducted several field and laboratory tests for the design of foundations of different structures like buildings, turbo-generator and water tanks.

Dr. Madhavi Latha Gali is a Professor of Civil Engineering and the chair of the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. She is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. With contributions to the areas of Geocell reinforcement and stability of rock slopes, Prof. Gali’s current research is focused on micro to macro in geomechanics, 3D printing, innovative geosynthetics and rock Engineering. She served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Geotechnical Journal during 2016–2022. She is currently an Associate Editor for the Geotextiles and Geomembranes, Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering and the Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series A.
