Hermann Dörries (1895-1977)
The church historian Hermann Dörries (1895-1977) lived through a variety of political systems in Germany during the twentieth century, from the Kaiserreich up to up to the country being divided into a federal republic and the communist east. This study - as much a biography as an analysis of Dörriesʼ oeuvre - illuminates the interdependencies between Dörriesʼ work as a church historian and his (political) surroundings.
