Iacovino, Gabriele

Gabriele Iacovino is the Director at CeSI – Centro Studi Internazionali. He joined the Institute in 2010 as analyst of Middle East and North Africa and became the Coordinator of all the analysis wing in 2013. His fields of expertise include geopolitics and security in North Africa and Middle East, jihadi terrorism and deradicalization and global issues.

He holds a Master Degree in International Relations and a Bachelor in Political Science both obtained at the LUISS University of Rome and a Post-graduated course in Peacekeeping and Security Studies, from the University of Roma Tre.



He worked as a political advisor with NATO's Rapid Deployable Corps NRDC-ITA of Solbiate Olona. Mr. Iacovino is a lecturer at the Carabinieri Officer School, at the High Academy of the State Police, at the Institute of Higher Military Studies of the Defence Staff, at the Italian Army’s Centre for Post Conflict Studies, at the Centre for Specialised Training of the Italian Financial Police, at the Joint Intelligence Centre of the Defence Staff and at the Joint Training School of the Italian National Intelligence Community.



Mr. Iacovino has been frequently interviewed as commentator on national and international TV and Radio broadcasts.



 

Mikael Wigell is Research Director at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and Adjunct Professor in International Political Economy at the Tampere University, Finland. He earned his PhD at the London School of Economics and he has been a Visiting Fellow at the Changing Character of War Centre, Oxford University. He has also been a Member of the Development Policy Committee of the Finnish Government and President of the Finnish International Studies Association. He is a leading expert on geoeconomics and hybrid threats, and his work has appeared in journals such as International Affairs, World Development, The Washington Quarterly, Democratization, Comparative Strategy, Asia Europe Journal, and Global Affairs. His latest book is as editor of the volume Geo-economics and Power Politics in the 21st Century.
