Many Modes – One Goal?
»Evangelism« has long held a central place in Christian discourse, yet it continues to invite diverse interpretations and raise important questions. What, precisely, is meant by evangelism? How does the worthy testimony of faith relate to the communicative dimension of Christian witness in everyday life? Does the term refer to a specific set of actions, or rather to the quality of those actions as »gospel«? And how should this gospel be articulated more clearly amid the tensions between church or community and increasingly pluralised societies? These questions were the subject of reflection for theologians from Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and the United States at the conference »One Goal – Many Modes«, held from 5 to 7 October 2024 in the Swiss monastery of Kappel.
Kirche – Diakonie – und …?
Obwohl das Verhältnis der Kirche zur Diakonie und umgekehrt immer wieder in Einzelstudien und v.a. mit Fokus auf spezifischen Anwendungsfelder thematisiert wird, bleibt dies dennoch eine so gut wie nicht diskutierte Frage auf einer theologischen und interdisziplinären Metaebene.
