Sigrid Mairhofer places community-based health promotion with elderly people at the centre of her research. She deals with the opportunities and challenges of healthy ageing in rural South Tyrol within the framework of a participatory research project and, by describing the individual project phases, exemplifies how participatory research can be implemented in this field.
