W. T. Stead as New Journalist and Nonconformist, 1870-1912

W. T. Stead as New Journalist and Nonconformist, 1870-1912

This book is an in-depth study of the influence of evangelical Nonconformity on the evolving journalism of W. T. Stead, one of the leading British newspaper editors of the late-nineteenth century. While Stead’s Christian beliefs have been examined alongside and complementary to his journalism, no long study has yet interrogated the way in which Protestant Dissent helped to shape the development of his press practice.
