Schmidt, Torsten
Torsten Schmidt is a trained car mechanic and worked as a service technician in an independent workshop and in a BMW car dealership. He then completed further training to become a master mechanic in 1995 and completed this with the Bavarian Master Prize for outstanding achievements. He then worked as a workshop manager in a motorsport company and in an independent workshop with an attached towing service. Here, as plant manager, he was responsible for workshop management, responsibility for apprentice training and the procurement of spare parts in accordance with the craft regulations.
In 2007, the reorientation towards technical journalism followed. As editor of KRAFTHAND, he writes articles in the field of workshop practice and automotive technology, as well as controversial industry discourses. As part of his work for Krafthand Medien, he has also written various specialist books and publications. He also lectured at the Krafthand-DEKRA professional training courses on the subject of high-voltage vehicles.
For his work, Torsten Schmidt has already been among the winners of the renowned journalists' prize 'Wort und Werkstatt'. Private interests include travel and various endurance sports.
