Search and rescue is aimed at people and animals in distress and immediate danger.
The history of search and rescue goes way back and the principle is mentioned in Psalm 107:19: Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.
Even older the Epic of Gilgamesh, an ancient Sumerian epic poem that tells of a cruel and reckless young kings quest to rescue his friend from death. Clay tablet abt 2,100 B.C.
Today, rescue organization and vehicles are highly developed with specialized equipment and specially trained but volunteers participate based on the creed and deed of mercy.
