Africa is a continent on the upswing, developing great economic momentum. If German companies want to participate in Africa's upswing, they need to be familiar with some special features. This book shows the way to successful business in Africa. It is a practical, yet scientifically based guide for all entrepreneurs and economically interested parties who want to be successful in Africa. It combines the experience of many companies with the scientific perspective and findings of the Centre for Business and Technology in Africa at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences.

In the 2nd edition new developments on the African continent are taken up and current answers are given to the classical questions, which each actor must answer for itself, which wants to be economically successful in Africa: WHY Africa is interesting for the business, WHERE the largest chances of success exist, HOW to proceed and WHICH approaches for the future organization of the economic relations betweenGermany and Africa are promising.

The book describes how to invest in Africa and bundles the current experiences of managers of large corporations and family businesses with a long history on the continent.

This book discusses the requirements and preconditions for transforming the economy in order to achieve defined goals while maintaining and utilizing the efficiency of markets. It shows how economic concepts and practices need to be reconsidered and revised in the face of enormous ecological damage and significant economic inequality across much of the world.

The book systematizes essential ecological and social targets and presents factors influencing Economic Transformation. Various transformation concepts are discussed with regard to their contribution to adequate economic design and corresponding options for action are developed. Businesses, private households, the state and the commons are involved in these reflections, but also supranational institutions and (civil) society. The ecological compatibility of the economy and the reduction of excessive divergencies in income and wealth are the guiding principles of the overall considerations. In addition, the extent to which the concerns of Economic Transformation are reflected in the government programs of the USA, Great Britain, South Africa and Germany is examined.

The book will be of interest to anyone who shares the belief that increasing well-being in a market-oriented society must go hand in hand with ecological compatibility and improved social equity, both globally and within societies.

This book explains why participation processes have gained importance for the police and how they can be successfully designed. In the future, an integrated security structure will increasingly be required, in which stakeholder groups and affected citizens play an important role in police hazard and risk assessment, and thus in shaping their context-related sense of security. The book pursues a guiding and action-oriented approach on how practical participation processes for citizens can be integrated into the planning and projects of the police. Theoretical foundations and practical application fields for the implementation of participation processes are identified: involvement in cooperation discussions for discursive conflict resolution in advance of protest situations, opinion formation through information and discursive exchange of arguments within the framework of municipal security and prevention work, or issue-related "round tables" in the area of independent citizen and police commissioners.

In a time of great uncertainty due to social change and complexity, participation processes offer the opportunity to ease strained relationships between the police and civil society and to build a mutual trust relationship. Citizen participation cannot replace sovereign action but can enrich it with everyday and experiential knowledge. In these turbulent times, there is no better recipe for jointly shaping security and addressing problems.
