Die Wiener Medizin, von schweren Belastungen aus der NS-Zeit geprägt, durchlief in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ebenso tiefgreifende wie komplexe Wandlungsprozesse. Hierzu trugen neben wissenschaftlichen Innovationen und Netzwerken auch politische Strukturveränderungen sowie sozioökonomische, rechtliche und kulturelle Entwicklungen bei. Viennese medicine, marked by heavy burdens from the Nazi era, underwent processes of change in the second half of the 20th century that were as profound as they were complex.
