This volume presents the criminal theory of the author and thinker Leo Tolstoy in its historical context and provides a comprehensive portrayal of its elements. It shows that his theory – despite all of its weaknesses and shortcomings – was neither unworldly nor utopian. At the same time, it makes a contribution to research into the legal philosophy of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
