In recent years, property and tax-law reforms have been sources of great contention among states, municipalities, and property owners. Property ownership and its taxation have become the focus of public attention. This volume takes a historical and comparative perspective to examine a number of questions, in particular concerning record-keeping methods and forms of visualization in the cadastre and land register.

Mit seiner Forderung nach „Mehr Gerechtigkeit" setzte der 2020 verstorbene ehemalige Münchner Oberbürgermeister, Hans-Jochen Vogel, das Thema einer neuen Bodenordnung erneut auf die öffentliche Agenda. Seit Jahrzehnten verfolgte er das Ziel, bezahlbaren Wohnraum vor allem in den Städten zu schaffen, denn die seit den 1950er-Jahren rasant gestiegenen Bodenpreise sah er als Ursache für hohe Mieten.
