A word about the artist:
Stefan Koidl is a freelance illustrator and Krampus mask carver living in Hallein, Austria. He worked as a freelancer for multiple clients such as Dark Horse Comics LLC., Hi-Rez Studios, Ravensburger, Rhino Games Inc; Adreama Games, to name a few.

I love to draw images that tell a story, and I believe that paintings should evoke a viewer’s feelings and make them think. I especially like to paint creepy and dark stuff — I find it thrilling to “play” with a viewer’s fear.

And about his book:
In this book, Stefan Koidl aims to showcase his passion for painting frightening digital illustrations and carving Krampus masks; share stories that deepen the meaning behind his artwork, talk about his experiences with turning art into a career, break down his creative processes and much more.

The stories I’ve included in this book were written by members of my fan base. I’ve included these alongside the illustrations they were written to accompany, to help you as a reader dive even more deeply into the themes and messages told by my paintings themselves.

The Art of Stefan Koidl is a hardcover book that will measure 297 x 210 mm (A4 size) and will contain 320 pages printed on 150g Munken Arctic Paper.

Her greatest inspirations are fairytales, folklore, and ghost stories. The works of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, the Brothers Grimm, Shirley Jackson, Angela Carter, and many classic gothic works of fiction, such as Dracula and Frankenstein have always stirred her imagination.
