Beyond Training and Development
Human Performance Improvement through a Measurable Focus on Business Impact
This textbook is perfect for students and human resource development (HRD) professionals who want to dive deep into Human Performance Technology (HPT), a methodical way to boost performance. It is organized into five parts: (1) emerging trends that go beyond traditional training, (2) diagnosing and analysing performance, (3) identifying opportunities for performance improvement, (4) selecting and implementing performance improvement strategies, and (5) evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
Key topics include performance gap analysis, intervention design, workplace learning strategies, and business impact measurement. The authors bring a wealth of industry experience and teaching expertise, blending theory with real-world application.
This new edition is designed to support both academic and professional learning. It covers current trends in talent development, such as the changing nature of work and the future workplace, the emergence of AI and data analytics tools for performance assessment, and DEI.
By offering a structured framework, real-world case studies, and practical tools, this text meets the growing need for evidence-based HRD and TD strategies that drive measurable organizational performance. It will serve as both a graduate-level textbook and a practical reference for HRD professionals aiming to enhance workplace performance through strategic, evidence-based interventions.
