This study delves into Johann Gottfried Herder’s reflections on the state during his Weimar period (1776–1803). By analyzing the interdisciplinary themes and variety of formal and aesthetic means he used to present this complex of problems, this volume offers insights into the political thought and actions of an author whose relevance for the discourses and practices of state politics in the late Enlightenment has long been overlooked.
