Jaxon Hall - Part 1

New York, September 2027. Jaxon Hall starts his dream job as an analyst at Aurum Analytics, an elite cyber defense firm that guards banks and governments from attacks nobody else can see. He brings a secret with him: LYRA, an artificial intelligence he built at MIT, which learns, reads context, and sees patterns no human could. Within weeks LYRA flags something that shouldn't exist. Accounts that were deactivated long ago keep waking up at night, and data streams are moving through archived servers toward one of Aurum's most important clients. Someone inside the company is preparing an attack on the global financial system. Every trail leads back to the man Jaxon reports to. When Jaxon digs deeper, the hunter becomes the hunted. His access is turned against him, his name turns up in places it never should, and an FBI agent has started asking questions. With the clock running down to the night when America springs forward and one hour disappears, Jaxon has to decide whom to trust: a journalist he barely knows, a group of whistleblowers, or the machine he created.

Über den Autor

Dr. Jan Hachenberger has advised companies on IT and strategy for nearly 30 years. He guides them through digital transformation, with a focus on data and artificial intelligence, technology adoption, and governance. His doctoral research already examined the protection and misuse of intellectual property in the digital age. In his near-future novels, he combines this expertise with narrative suspense and asks questions that drive him both professionally and personally: How much control do we hand over to systems we no longer fully understand? And what remains of us as humans when systems learn to act on their own? Dr. Jan Hachenberger lives and writes in the Cologne/Bonn area.
