Romans and Natives in the Danubian Provinces (1st–6th C. AD)

This volume presents the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on the Roman Danubian Provinces, held at the University “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” in Iași (Romania) from 5 to 9 November 2019. They mainly deal with the interaction between the local population and the Roman authorities in the Danubian provinces. The approaches come from different fields: Epigraphy, Archaeology, Papyrology, Linguistics, Literary Criticism. New epigraphic and papyrological sources are published and new archaeological finds are presented.
The conference was organised in memory of Angela Donato, who, as a permanent staff member and former secretary of the Association Internationale d'Épigraphie Grecque et Latine (AIEGL), had substantially been involved in the organisation of the scientific events. The proceedings are dedicated to her and two other great scholars who had devoted most of their work to the Danubian provinces: Tadeusz Sarnowski and Octavian Bounegru.
